Inside Lankhorst’s Fujairah Stockpoint

23-10-2018

Lankhorst Ropes’ Fujairah stockpoint, on the Gulf of Oman, serves the region’s ports and terminals by supplying the equipment tugs, tankers and cargo ships need for safe mooring and towing operations. We talk to Lankhorst Ropes’ Danny Naoum to find out more.

Danny Naoum, Regional Director – Middle East & North Africa, WireCo World Group, comments “One of the most frequently supplied ropes from Furairah is Eurofloat Premium. This is because Lankhorst designed Eurofloat Premium with the requirements of modern tanker fleets in mind. Light without compromising on strength, Eurofloat Premium is in an easy to handle, strong rope with excellent fatigue resistance. Together these make a rope with a very competitive cost-of-ownership.”

Continuing, “Lankhorst Ropes aims to continuously improve the performance of its ropes. Whether through rope innovation or helping customers to optimise their rope use through line arrangement or crew training.

Ensuring crews are up to date with the latest rope handling best practice improves rope service life, leading to lower total cost of ownership as well as improving crew safety, one of the focuses of the OCIMF’s new mooring equipment guidelines. Many operators are unsure of how MEG4 will impact them. Lankhorst Ropes will be working with ship builders and vessel operators to help operators understand the requirements and implement the new guidelines with confidence.
