Lankhorst Ropes supplies mooring lines to ms Eurodam
Lankhorst Ropes supplies mooring lines and steelwire rope to ms Eurodam, the most recently built cruiseship of the Holland America Line (HAL).
The shipyard Fincantieri Marghera in Genua (Italy) started in February 2007 with building the ship and launched the ms Eurodam in September 2007. The shipyard installed four 12-cilinder and two 8-cilinder diesel engines. The engines run most efficiently when they deliver 85% of the maximum capacity. By means of the combination of different engines the cruiseship can always sail with an efficient combination.
Lankhorst Ropes, member of the Royal Lankhorst Euronete Group bv with head office in Sneek, has supplied to this new cruiseship of Holland America Line, the mooring lines
Tipto Winchline® and
Tipto Eight®. These special mooring lines, made of Tipto® yarns, with the unique combination of high breaking strength and excellent abrasion resistence, have proven their reputation already with many applications at different ships all over the world, at sea and at rivers.
On Sunday 29 June last the ms Eurodam, the biggest passenger ship ever under the flag of Holland, arrived at the cruise terminal in Rotterdam. In the presence of Stein Kruse (president of Holland America Line) and Corrado Antonini (president of the Italian shipyard Fincantieri) the ms Eurodam will be officially named by Queen Beatrix on Tuesday 1 July next.
