OTC 2010 will mark the first opportunity for visitors to the Houston-based conference and exhibition to see the new LankoFirst  fibre rope connector for deepwater and ultra-deepwater mooring lines at the Lankhorst Ropes Offshore Division (LROD) booth no. 1205.

Developed by Lankhorst Ropes, Offspring International, and subsea mooring connector specialist, First Subsea, the new connectors will revolutionise the ease with which deepwater  fibre  mooring lines  are connected and deployed offshore. The LankoFirst range includes rope-rope, rope-wire and rope-chain connectors. 

Traditional  fibre rope mooring connectors are often cumbersome to handle and time-consuming to complete during deepwater mooring operations offshore. LankoFirst is developed specifically for deepwater  fibre connections. The connectors are smaller, lighter, stronger and more efficient than current plate links and thimbles. Moreover, they are easier to make-up and the rope splice is slimmer, and therefore lighter, for the same MBL.

Also at OTC 2010, Lankhorst Ropes Offshore division is announcing a new rope splice. Called the A3© ROPE SPLICE,  it develops 100% efficiency so there is no loss in rope strength due to splicing. It also makes rope handling easier as there is no doubling of the rope or splice stiffness in the mainline. Moreover, the A3© ROPE SPLICE  design is less prone to the effect of abrasion on vulnerable areas of the splice covering, thus providing a longer lasting rope.

The A3© ROPE SPLICE for towing lines will be progressively introduced across the Lankhorst Ropes range over 2010.
