Newsletter #4 (2009): Highlights of 2009

21 December 2009

Herewith we would like to highlight some of the most important events of the year 2009.

  • Recycling Program
Used ropes of Lankhorst Ropes which have reached the end of their on board lifecycle, can be recycled by Lankhorst Ropes. Evidence of participation in the recycling program is shown by a logo on the works certificate supplied with each new coil. When ropes are returned, again a confirmation of receipt for recycling is issued. Following ropes of Lankhorst Ropes are suitable for recycling:

              - TIPTO-WINCHLINE®

              - TIPTO-TWELVE®

              - TIPTO-EIGHT®

  • New identification system
Our newest improvement is the identification of our ropes. For many years we have been applying a tracer with an unique code inside our ropes. Now this unique serial no. is also clearly visible in the neck of each eye. This serial number is corresponding with the numbers on the certificates. This will guarantee a one to one match, easy control of your mooring hawsers and quicker approval from the vetting inspector. This new identification system complies fully with the OCIMF recommendations.

  •  Sacrificial products
To protect your ropes against damaging and abrasion we would suggest the use of protection sleeves. These sleeves are easy to supply where and when you need it.
Please note that the use of this protection sleeve will drastically improve the life-time of your mooring ropes.

Lankhorst | Ropes newest development with regard to rope protection is the “DEFENDER”.  This is a robust protection sleeve that can be fixed on areas where the ropes will suffer the most due to external abrasion. This braided additional sleeve will increase the life time of your ropes.  The “DEFENDER” can be made from different fibres, such as Euroneema, Tipto and Polyester.  Due to the construction, one can slide it over the rope, for easy positioning.
