Newsletter #1 (2009): Temporary lay up mooring ropes of Lankhorst Ropes

Lankhorst Ropes is pleased to kick off this fresh year with our first quarterly mailing of 2009. This time, we would like to give you more insight information about our temporary lay up mooring ropes.

We all know that due to the credit crunch, in some occasions it is economical better to take vessels out of service for some time. The last thing you want, in such situation, is that your expensive high quality ropes are being damaged by the continuously abrasion true the fairlead and or being under constant tension. In these enduring times, a more economically priced rope though still a reliable product could be a good alternative. Such as HSPP.

HSPP rope

This mooring rope features an extreme high breaking load and low weight, whilst still floating. HSPP has a good abrasion, chemical and UV resistance. The combination of a good size / strength /elongation ratio, makes that this rope could be considered for this kind of application.

Sacrificial product

In addition to protect your ropes against damaging and abrasion, another suggestion we would like to highlight is the use of the protection sleeves. These sleeves are easy to install where and when you need it. They can be positioned easily on that spot where the ropes are exposed to excessive abrasion. [Fairlead / rollers]

Please note that the use of this protection sleeve will drastically improve the life-time of your mooring ropes. Protective sleeves and/or sacrificial ropes may save money in the operation on the long run.
