A3 TIPTO®WINCHLINE now available

The industry leading A3 splice is now available as standard on all
TIPTO®WINCHLINES, making it even easier to handle the rope during winching operations. It joins the STRONGLINE A3 which is proving to be a successful addition to our product range.

The Lankhorst A3 splice marked a breakthrough in splicing and ease of rope handling. The splice reduces the size and weight of the rope's 'eye' splice, making it easier to handle during mooring and towing operations, yet produces a stronger rope.

TIPTO®WINCHLINE is a dedicated floating winchline for single drum, self-tensioning winches. The load-bearing, 7 strand core rope combines high strength and low elongation, and retains its strength even when wet.

The A3 splice has a 100% efficiency, which means there is no loss in
TIPTO®WINCHLINE rope strength due to splicing. It also makes the low weight, TIPTO® rope even easier to handle as there is no doubling of the rope or splice stiffness in the mainline commonly experienced with traditional rope splicing. Moreover, the A3 splice design is less prone to the effect of abrasion on vulnerable areas of the splice covering, thus providing a longer lasting rope.

STRONGLINE success

The TIPTO®WINCHLINE joins the Lankhorst STRONGLINE which has featured the A3 splice as standard for  sometime. One ship operator has begun standardising on the STRONGLINE with A3 splice for all its mooring ropes. After a 6 month trial, the reduction in cost-of-ownership prompted the switch to STRONGLINE A3.
