The roots…
A young man named Nicolaas Jurjan Lankhorst, married into a family that owned a small
factory in manufacturing ropes and netting. In 1803 he took over the company and named it Lankhorst Touwfabrieken. In the 19th and 20th century, Lankhorst developed from a local artisan business into a world wide operating concern. In particular the production of rope and mooring lines spurred a flourishing growth of Lankhorst. Attention to product development has enabled Lankhorst to grow. The company has built a strong market position with innovations in the field of the maritime industry, agriculture, yachting and recycling. The well manned R&D departments continuously work at new, innovative and client focused solutions, providing Lankhorst’s leading position in the market.
After several years of working within a strategic alliance with the Portuguese rope and netting producer, Grupo Euronete SGPSA, founded by Captain Gramaxo in 1965, the two companies Lankhorst and Grupo Euronete merged into the Lankhorst Euronete Group bv in 1998.This group forms Europe’s largest producer of rope, yarns and netting.
In 2003, on the occasion of the group’s bicentennial anniversary, Her Majesty the Queen of The Netherlands granted our company by Royal Warrant the predicate “Royal”. Since then the company is named Royal Lankhorst Euronete Group bv.
History started modestly more than two hundreds years ago as Lankhorst Touwfabrieken, but the company has expanded into a multi faceted enterprise of international stature with a turnover of approximately € 157 million in 2007 and approximately 1.300 employees.
