Lankhorst Ropes delivers LANKO®FORCE to M/V Rockpiper

14 February 2012
Recently, the maritime division of Lankhorst Ropes delivered the mooring lines LANKO®FORCE, diameter 36 mm, to Keppel Shipyard Singapore. These mooring ropes are going to be used at the M/V Rockpiper, a fall pipe vessel that is extremely precise in depositing stones to a depth of 1.000m. Stone dumping is usually done to provide protection to structures that are under water, such as pipelines and data cables. Also, the ship is deployed to make foundations for offshore platforms on the seabed. For example to avoid sinking.

The ship is equipped with an underwater robot (Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV)). This ROV can be precisely positioned by means of screws, cameras, lights, accelerometers and sonar. Through dynamic positioning the fall pipe vessel is brought and kept exactly above the work place. The fall pipe is lowered until the ROV is found a few meters above the sea floor.
Partly due to the presence of the ROV, this ship can work extremely efficient; in the past an additional vessel was needed.

The characteristics of the M/V Rockpiper are:

The Rock Piper will mainly be operating in the northern hemisphere. She is fully booked the next two years. We wish her many safe journeys.
