Counterfeit Ropes Ė Donít put Crew Safety at Risk

07 November 2017

Lankhorst Ropes has become aware that ropes being sold as ‘Tipto Eight’ are available from China, - these are NOT genuine Lankhorst Tipto Eight ropes and do not offer the same performance, safety and service life – avoid using them.

If you have purchased Tipto Eight ropes from Lankhorst or one of our stock points around the world your ropes are unaffected and will provide the quality and performance you’d expect from Tipto Eight. A genuine Lankhorst rope can be easily identified through its identification number and certificate as described below” says Lankhorst Ropes",  commercial director - maritime, Hans-Pieter Baaij.

Identifying a Lankhorst rope
Lankhorst ropes carry a unique Product Identification Code (PIC) which can be found on a tape inside the rope and on the protective barrier in the eye. The PIC corresponds to the factory certificate number for each rope.

Lankhorst Ropes offers 24/7 access to rope certificates online. The online certificate allows Lankhorst customers to check all of their ropes’ details including construction, diameter, length, minimum breaking load and end termination.
